Austrian Bishop Bans FSSPX Rosary at Mariazell Basilica

Bishop Wilhelm Krautwaschl of Graz-Seckau, Austria, has prohibited the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) from holding its annual public Rosary prayer on October 4 inside the Basilica of Mariazell. It is one of the most important Marian shrines in Austria.
The annual ceremony in the basilica included Rosary, Litany of Loreto, Marian hymns and a blessing - but no sacraments.
Fsspx.at announced the decision on August 27, adding that a pilgrimage will take place with a modified program.
The FSSPX’s rosary prayer in Mariazell has existed for half a century. On September 8, 1975, Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre led approximately 600 faithful to the Austrian shrine.

Stop the Massacres” - Nigerian Bishops

On August 27, the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria called on the government and security agencies to step up efforts to combat killings and kidnappings following recent attacks in Benue and Niger states.
In a statement titled “Stop the Slaughter in Borgu and Ukum, Stop the Killings in Nigeria,” the bishops said the country was experiencing an “unabated trail of blood and terror” that had reached an “intolerable crest.”
The statement was signed by CBCN President Archbishop Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso of Kaduna.
The bishops cited the recent killing of 47 people in Ukum, Benue State, where another 17 people were critically wounded. They also condemned the abduction of more than 60 Muslim worshippers in Borgu, Niger State.
They called for intelligence-led security operations. The aim is disrupting armed groups before they can carry out attacks. They also demanded the prosecution of the perpetrators and their sponsors, saying that “impunity fuels repetition.”
Furthermore, the bishops …'Besdal

This is a huge scandal. No Catholic or Christian countries seem to care about these poor people being murdered. And the news seldom covers it.

Pope Leo XIV was the first pope to travel by boat during the traditional procession on Lake Albano. He was accompanied by a good dozen boats. During the trip, he waved and blessed the people on the shore and on the lake. The trip was accompanied by music and meditations. After about half an hour, the pope’s boat docked again at the shore.

Anti-Conversion Law: Indian Christians Demand Written Consent Before Prayer Meetings

Some evangelical groups in India’s western state of Maharashtra are asking Christians to sign declarations confirming that they attend prayer meetings voluntarily.
Maharashtra’s Freedom of Religion Law, which targets “forced religious conversions,” took effect on August 28. It prohibits conversions involving force, fraud, coercion, undue influence or inducement.
Christian groups fear its broad provisions could be applied to ordinary religious or charitable activities.
The forms, reported in Mumbai and neighbouring districts, state that Christians attend of their own choice, without pressure, inducement or threats. Some churches also request a photograph and an Aadhaar or PAN identification number.
The declarations are not required by the government. The move follows several disruptions of Christian gatherings. The Indian Express reported nine police cases linked to five incidents between April and July.
Christian leaders say the forms were introduced as protection against allegations …'Besdal

The Great Flattening: 1948-1969
Look closely at the period between roughly 1950 and 1970. It is usually presented as an age of enormous progress. Television brought information and entertainment into the home. New technologies made life easier. Consumer goods became cheaper and more widely available. The sexual revolution promised greater freedom, while modern architecture and design promised a cleaner and more rational world.
Yet there was another side to this transformation.
Across very different areas of life, older forms were being discarded in favor of things that were easier to produce, easier to understand, easier to consume, and easier to adapt to the preferences of the individual. The change was not limited to one industry or one political movement. It appeared in the places where people lived, the food they ate, the clothes they wore, the entertainment they watched, the way they understood marriage and sexuality, and eventually in the way they worshipped.
That is what I mean …'Besdal

Discontent of Right and Center

by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
– Folha de S. Paulo, July 21, 1978 –
In a previous article, I promised to inform readers about multiple attacks in the US against widespread leftism.
Today I fulfilled that promise. From the outset, I note that I will deal here with an offensive not only from the right but also from the center (and, if we take into account the preponderant importance of the means that the latter has launched into the struggle, even less from the right than from the center) against what would be a “new look” of leftism.
In fact, “leftism” here is not merely a set of socioeconomic reforms aimed at establishing complete equality among men in the short or medium term. It is also everything that corrodes, corrupts, or dissolves Christian morality, the foundation of Western civilization.
The omnipresent permissiveness of our days can and should be considered a genuine expression of the leftist mentality and doctrine, for it is as characteristic of communist regimes as state and …'Besdal

German Church Cancels November Synodal Conference as Vatican Delays Approval: The first “Synodal Conference” of the Church in Germany, scheduled to take place in Stuttgart on November 6–7, has been postponed, Domradio reported on August 28. The main reason is that the statutes are still awaiting the necessary recognition from the Vatican. Hotel rooms that had been reserved for the November meeting have been cancelled. The president of the German Bishops’ Conference, Bishop Heiner Wilmer of Hildesheim, had already said in May that, given the ongoing review by several Vatican dicasteries, he no longer expected the Synodal Conference to begin in November.

God’s Will Requires A Transformed Mind
The first reading highlights Jeremiah’s struggle with God’s will, questioning why God allows suffering despite his call to preach. The second reading emphasizes the need for a transformed mind to discern God’s will, which often involves trials and suffering. These trials, while challenging, are necessary for spiritual growth and strengthening our faith, ultimately conforming us to Christ.
God desires us to be the center of our lives, loving Him with all our heart, soul, and strength, and striving to do His will. This requires a transformation of our minds, aligning our thoughts and desires with His, which can only be achieved through prayer and a commitment to living according to His teachings. While this path may be challenging, it leads to fulfillment, peace, and joy, as it conforms us to our true nature as beings created in His image.

Successes of Conservative Centrism

– Folha de S. Paulo, August 12, 1978 –
by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
Carter (left) and Leonid Ilyich Brezhnev signing the SALT II treaty in Vienna (June 18, 1979)
Today, I continue to present significant symptoms of discontent in the US caused by President Carter’s leftist policies, as well as facts indicating the influence that conservative centrism has achieved in that country.
Expressions of discontent in the US and abroad with Carter’s conciliatory policy toward Communist Russia are not new. Back in April of this year, the well-known British newspaper, The Daily Express, published a remarkably lucid commentary on the subject that goes straight to the heart of the president’s diplomatic errors.
The Daily Express (April 21, 1978) wrote: “The great flaw in American policy is the assumption that by making concessions and seeking to please, it will win friends and allies.”
The newspaper offers many examples of this and contrasts Carter’s approach with Russia’s, which “concedes nothing …'Besdal
