Church Memorial Remembers Aborted Babies: At St. Antonius Church in Bregenz, Austria, a memorial commemorates children who died before birth. Bishop Benno Elbs of Feldkirch inaugurated the memorial in December 2025. A memorial plaque remembers Lydia, who died in the ninth week of pregnancy after her mother took an abortion pill. Her mother regretted the decision and tried unsuccessfully to stop the effects of the pill. Lydia was later given a dignified burial. The pro-life organization Plattform Leben Vorarlberg promotes the memorial and has published Lydia’s story in a short German-language film, which can be watched with translated subtitles.

Bishop Ángel Javier Pérez Pueyo of Barbastro-Monzón, Spain, has said he would offer his resignation rather than sign a settlement under which the statue of Our Lady of the Angels of Torreciudad remains permanently at the Opus Dei sanctuary. The bishop drew his red line in a public letter on 31 August, ahead of the image’s return to its ancient hermitage on 5 September for the 47th Pilgrimage of the Virgins of Ribagorza and Sobrarbe. Rev. Edgard Rimaycuna, 36, Leo XIV’s personal secretary, was a disciple of Father Eleuterio Vásquez, called “Lute”. This former priest from Chiclayo is accused of sexually abusing girls aged 9 and 11. The information is revealed in the book The Shepherd and the Wolves, as reported by InfoVaticana. The book was written by Peruvian author Santiago Roncagliolo and is sympathetic toward Leo XIV. This applies even when the policy normally excludes suicide during its first year. It also applies to contracts signed before the law took effect. Pakistan Honors Christian Nurse Who Saved Baby From Hospital Fire: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that Christian nurse Razia Noreen will receive the Sitara-i-Khidmat, a national civil honor, for her bravery during a deadly hospital fire in Islamabad on August 26. Leo XIV personally intervened to stop VaticanNews.va from using the artwork of Father Marko Rupnik, according to Bishop Jean-Marc Micas of Tarbes and Lourdes.
