01:40An interesting exchange here between William F. Buckley Jr. and Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen from 1970, where the good Bishop’s answers sound incredibly contemporary and not entirely satisfactory. Almost as if the Church has been in stasis for 50 years.
One cannot promote VII without bashing almost 2000 years of Catholicism that preceded it. Sheen does it in this interview.
No Mass in St. Peter’s: Roman Rite Pilgrimage Moves to St. Mary Major
The final programme for the annual Rome pilgrimage of the Traditional Roman Rite (23–25 October) has been announced.
However, there is a notable change this year: the pilgrims will enter St Peter's Basilica at 1 p.m. to pray, but there will be no Mass.
Instead, pilgrims will travel to the Basilica of St Mary Major, where Bishop Athanasius Schneider will celebrate Mass at 3 p.m.
On Friday evening, Bishop Schneider will preside over Pontifical Vespers at the Pantheon.
Unlike in previous years, no cardinal is scheduled to celebrate the principal liturgies.
On Sunday, the traditional Feast of Christ the King, Masses will be held at San Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini, Santissima Trinità dei Pellegrini and Sant’Anna al Laterano.
The organisers have expressed their gratitude to Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, Archpriest of St Mary Major, for welcoming the pilgrims.

Considering St. Peter’s has never been properly reconsecrated it is a good thing. Isn’t Bergoglio interred at St. Mary Major?

Have you compared the 1570 Missal to the pre-55 Missal? Even the 62 Missal? It’s easy, go to divinumofficium.com/cgi-bin/missa/missa.pl . Check the Rubrics. That of 1570 is almost identical to the Mass I hope to attend this Sunday. The truth is until Montini popes considered bound to Quo Primum and any alterations were small, insignificant. You cannot justify the NO by what occurred with the Rite of All Ages between 1570 and the 1960s.

St. Pope Pius V and the Council of Trent have spoken. The matter is settled.
Cardinal Woelki: Novus Ordo Not Inferior to Tridentine Rite in Beauty and Dignity
The Mass in the traditional Roman rite plays “no separate or prominent role” in the Archdiocese of Cologne, "conservative" Cardinal Rainer Maria Woelki told Die-Tagespost.de on the occasion of his 70th birthday on August 17.
“I see myself entirely at home in the tradition and teaching of the Second Vatican Council,” Cardinal Woelki said. The liturgical reform was “one of the essential reforms” of Vatican II.
The cardinal expressed gratitude to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter (FSSP), which celebrates the Roman liturgy at designated locations in the archdiocese. “I see this as an enrichment, because there have always been different rites in the Church,” he explained.
His but: “The Novus Ordo Missae has a beauty and dignity that is in no way inferior to the Tridentine rite.”
For Cardinal Woelki, the ars celebrandi is decisive.
Liturgical abuses are not confined to the Novus Ordo, Cardinal Woelki believes …
If any part of the NO has dignity and beauty matching the TLM it is only because that part that is beautiful is a remnant part of the Old Rite that was spared from the butcher’s (Bugnini’s) knife.
Leo XIV Promotes Archbishop Who Backed Vaccine Mandates and Praised Bad Bunny
Today, Leo XIV has appointed Monsignor Eusebio Ramos Morales, 73, until now Bishop of Caguas, as the new Metropolitan Archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He was ordained a priest in 1983 after completing studies in philosophy and theology in Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United States and Rome.
He has served as a parish priest, seminary rector, professor of dogmatic theology, Bishop of Fajardo-Humacao from 2008 to 2017, and Bishop of Caguas since 2017.
In 2024, he became President of the Puerto Rican Episcopal Conference.
The Puerto Rican bishops adopted one of the world's most restrictive implementations of Traditionis Custodes (2021), ending all Masses in the Roman rite on the island.
Hard-line COVID vaccine policy
In August 2021, Bishop Ramos signed the Puerto Rican bishops' pastoral instruction declaring that COVID vaccination was a "moral duty", that Catholic conscience objections were not recognized, and that …
Catholicism in PR is in a free fall, Evangelical protestantism is growing, reverent liturgy is almost impossible to find, so no surprise he is rewarded for it. And would someone please tell these bishops to shut up about immigration?
