crisismagazine.comThe Crunchy Moms Reshaping the Republican Party
Many of us are mothers—or hope to be mothers one day. Some of us work outside of the home and then come home to our more important roles of being mothers and wives. Some of us devote our entire beings to our families as stay-at-home mothers. Regardless of our current situation, we care deeply about the health of our children and are increasingly skeptical of industrially-produced food and the harmful ingredients used in their production and to increase their shelf life.
We’re crunchy (ish) conservative women in our late 20s, 30s, and early 40s. We know most people probably don’t care much about our opinion. But as we make the purchasing decisions for our households—and as the pundits tell us after every election—our voices and votes do matter! We’re reshaping the conservative political conversation and the Republican Party.

Timeless wisdom from The Cloud, St. John of the Cross, and Thomas à Kempis
Some books arrive at just the right time and others wait patiently until we’re ready to read them. The great spiritual classics of Christianity often fall into the second category. Their language can feel distant at times, their worldview shaped by medieval or early modern thought — but to dismiss them for that would be like walking away from a stained-glass window because the glass is old.

In 1987, the Lutheran minister Richard John Neuhaus argued that history had entered into a “Catholic moment,” in which the Catholic Church had a chance to take up its “rightful role” in constructing a “religiously informed public philosophy” for the United States. Given the Church’s declining numerical and institutional strength, it is striking to find that a strange kind of Catholic moment has indeed arrived—one in which the Church has a thinner presence on the ground but seemingly a greater one in public debates.
firstthings.comOur Strange Catholic Moment - First Things
American Catholicism is in steep decline. In 2000, 2.6 million American children attended Catholic schools. In 2025, only 1.6 million did. In 2001, more than a quarter-million Catholic weddings took place; in 2024, around 107,000 did. In 2001, more than a million infants were baptized in the Church. In 2024, fewer than half a million were. These numbers presage a future in which the Catholic Church will be much smaller and poorer than it currently is.
Given these facts, talk of a Catholic revival—spurred this spring by a surge in adult conversions, many in urban and university churches—is misplaced. At present, the trend in conversions shows no signs of offsetting broader decline. And yet something is stirring in the Catholic Church. It is evident not only in the number of adults seeking confirmation, but in the way Catholic concepts and figures have moved to the center of public debate. Rather than simple Catholic decline or Catholic revival, we appear to have entered a period of …
lifesitenews.comBishop Schneider: Synod report on homosexuality ‘crossed the line from orthodoxy into heresy’ - LifeSite

(LifeSiteNews) — Bishop Athanasius Schneider has said that a Vatican Synod on Synodality report suggesting homosexual “relationships” may not be sinful echoes the serpent in the Garden of Eden and has “crossed the line from orthodoxy into heresy.”
In an interview with Vatican journalist Diane Montagna, Schneider commented on the final report of Study Group 9, published May 5 by the Holy See’s General Secretariat of the Synod. The document was put together by one of the ten study groups established by Pope Francis in February 2024 in the context of the Synod on Synodality. The report from Study Group 9, titled “Theological criteria and synodal methodologies for shared discernment of emerging doctrinal, pastoral, and ethical issues,” suggested that homosexual “relationships” may not be sinful in themselves.
“In issuing the Final Report of Study Group No. 9, the Secretariat of the Synod of Bishops has stooped to promoting …

Sister Mary of St. Peter: The Soul and the Life
This show now turns from the historical moment to the person through whom the response begins to take shape, Sister Mary of St. Peter.
She was born on October 4, 1816, in Rennes, France, into a Catholic family marked by fidelity. Her father was a locksmith who lived a life of steady labor, observed the fasts of the Church, and approached the sacraments with reverence.¹ The life that unfolds does not emerge from instability, but from a home in which the faith was lived seriously and consistently.
Her early years were marked by both weakness and correction. As an infant, she suffered a severe accident that left lasting scars.² At the age of four, she nearly died from illness.³ She later described herself as quick to anger, stubborn, and prone to jealousy.⁴ These faults were not ignored. They were corrected firmly, even in small matters, including her behavior in church.⁴
From a young age, she was introduced to the sacramental …

thecatholicthing.org‘Synodal Shepherds’ Attack the Sheep - The Catholic Thing
The Catholic Church is accustomed to attacks upon her teaching. The history of heresy over the centuries reveals the never-ending efforts of those who seek to replace Catholic doctrine with various errors. What the Church has only recently become accustomed to is attacks upon her teaching coming from some of her shepherds, especially from the never-ending pronouncements emanating from the office of the Synod of Bishops.
The latest imposition of the Synod is the recently published full-fledged endorsement of the homosexual lifestyle in the Final Report of Study Group Number 9 “Theological Criteria and Synodal Methodologies for Shared Discernment of Emerging Doctrinal, Pastoral, and Ethical Issues.”
This report attempts to dismiss Catholic teaching on the inherent immorality of homosexual acts – and the disordered nature of the homosexual inclination – by stigmatizing that teaching as the expression of an obsolete “paradigm” that no longer can be relied upon to communicate God’s will …

When violent riots erupted across Los Angeles in defiance of President Trump’s efforts to enforce federal immigration law, the uprising was not as spontaneous as open-borders politicians would have you believe.
Far-left non-governmental organizations, including the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA), helped provide transportation and services to those going to the protests in support of illegal immigration, many of which quickly devolved into brutal attacks on Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
As it turns out, CHIRLA received nearly $34 million in California state grants from June 2022 to June 2023.
From October 2021 to September 2024, under the Biden-Harris administration, the group also received $450,000 in grants from the Department of Homeland Security.
But this pattern of incentivizing lawless behavior at taxpayers’ expense isn’t an isolated case — it is an example of the extensive partnership of open-borders activists and their allies in the Biden …
fidesetratio.usA long time Trad priest asks, “What is it going to take?” - Fides et Ratio | Reflections on life from a theological and rational perspective
Mark, forgive me for dumping this on your desk, but I thought NVP could expose a glaring lacuna in Trad Inc. media. Here goes:
Why aren’t Catholics and, in particular, Catholic influencers calling a spade a spade? Here’s what I mean. When an authority in the Church fails freely, consciously and gravely in his duty to shepherd his flock and promote and protect the true good of souls and the true interests of Our Lord and His Church, he is gravely dishonoring Our Lord and harming the Church and souls.
Why, then, isn’t this grave dereliction of duty called plainly what it is, namely, mortal sin, worthy of eternal damnation for him who commits it and who leaves this world unrepentant. The more weighty his responsibility and lofty his position in the hierarchy, the greater will be his eternal punishment. Is this truth just too hard for them to handle?
Perhaps you could consider calling out Trad Inc. media for their strange timidity. We’re not looking at a hierarchy today that exists for …
All it takes is to accept the Catholic teaching that a non-Catholic can't (note - not should'nt) be Pope.
Well, and laity and brother bishops and priests should also be making it abundantly clear that what the highest clergy are advocating is sin, and they will take many with them to hell, as many, many people believe what they are told by the Church. It makes the Blessed Virgin weep.
Miami Catholic Charities to lay off more than 80 employees after government cut millions in funding
Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami (CCADM) said it will cut more than 80 jobs after the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declined to renew an $11 million federal contract.
“HHS not renewing funding to Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Miami will result in 85 staff members being laid off as of May 31, 2026,” Peter Routsis-Arroyo, the organization’s CEO, said in a statement to EWTN News.
He said another 20 employees will be let go on June 30.
For decades, CCADM partnered with the federal government to serve vulnerable children and families. The termination of the contract ended a more than 65-year relationship that began with Operation Pedro Pan, which resettled about 14,000 Cuban children who were fleeing the Castro regime in the U.S.
The layoffs follow the announcement that CCADM "had to make the difficult decision to close the Msgr. Bryan Walsh Children’s Village,” Devika Austin, chief administrative officer of CCADM, wrote in an April 24 letter.
