"Josete" Has Finally Been Replaced - But Only After Public Homosexual Scandal

The Instituto Teológico a Distancia (ITD) has a new director following José ("Josete") Castro Cea's departure. On 30 January, ElConfidencialDigital.com reported that Cardinal José Cobo, the pro-homosexual Archbishop of Madrid, had appointed José Ángel Agejas Esteban, a layman, to the post.

Josete was removed as director of the Institute and dismissed as parish priest of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Pillar in Madrid. Infovaticana.com had published in September 2025 a video of him performing in a comedy show bragging about his homosex concubine.

The new director is not a theologian, but a professor of ethics and deontology at the Faculty of Communication of the Universidad Francisco de Vitoria.

The Archdiocese of Madrid has neither confirmed nor denied whether a canonical investigation against Josete is underway. Considered a close friend of Cardinal Cobo, Josete currently has no pastoral assignment. In December, he completed a course in artificial intelligence for business at the Madrid Chamber of Commerce.
